Cold
A ripple for every moment

Frigid sky scattered here and there. Shadows watch mountains who are not easily scared. Snowflakes fall as time stands still, while sun's warmth trembles under the treacherous chill. Depths run thin as the ice grows, and blue meets white in the blue shallow. Everything covered perfectly in a blanket, one that is cold and doesn't need to fake it.

Pests

Wave 968

Thursday

The 19th of August, 2010 at 12:53 PM

In the short time Kellie and I have lived at the new house, we've had to experience several pests. Just so I don't forget all the troubles we've had I'm making a list today of all the animals/insects that have caused us a problem. I've also listed where they were a problem and if they are controlled or not.

  • Ants - In yard and kitchen counter - Controlled
  • Garter Snakes - Under front step, along foundation on side of house. One found in the house. Controlled.
  • Bat - Living in Patio Umbrella - Left Alone (They kill 600 mosquitos an hour!)
  • Moles - Destruction to front and back yard - Currently Battling
  • Bees - 1 hornet nest, 2 yellow jacket nests - Controlled / Eliminated
  • Deer - Visit yard occasionally, eat vegetation - Left Alone For Now
  • Mice - 1 big momma, 8 smallies - Forest controls inside, Dad controls inside access
  • Woodchuck - 1 spotted June/July. Appears to have moved out of the yard. Control status - Pending. Live trap removed. Considering ammonia-soaked rags at entrance of potential den.
  • Robin - Attacked our kitchen window for a straight month leaving excrement caked onto the outside. Nesting season over, therefore Controlled.
  • Chipmunks - Created vast network of tunnels through landscaping and along foundation. Allowing nesting sites for snakes. Currently Battling.
  • Raccoon - 1 time visit the first night the live trap was put out for the woodchuck. Left Alone (they are my favorite animal).
  • Bald Eagle - Sounds silly, but Velma is baby Eagle food so we have to be careful.
  • Neighbor dog - Apparently dog aggressive. Found in our fenced in yard. Patched the hole in fence w/ chicken wire. Controlled.
  • Box Elder Bugs - All over front of the house when we first moved in. Treated with a common flea/tick preventative for dogs/cats. 1 Application = Controlled.
