Cold
A ripple for every moment

Frigid sky scattered here and there. Shadows watch mountains who are not easily scared. Snowflakes fall as time stands still, while sun's warmth trembles under the treacherous chill. Depths run thin as the ice grows, and blue meets white in the blue shallow. Everything covered perfectly in a blanket, one that is cold and doesn't need to fake it.

Dangers of Fitting In

Wave 947

While running today, I pondered some old memories and morals. Funny how they can mingle together so seamlessly.

Visions of the old-school YMCA flickered through the trees as I ran past. Those late night pick-up basketball games were a perfect opportunity to alleviate my daily frustrations (school and girls). They say exercise is a healthy stress reliever, sometimes I wonder.

As a quick note, I used to spend alot of time at the YMCA. Several nights a week was not uncommon. It gave me an outlet for not only stress but to meet new people as well.

Anyway, I learned several things over these fleeting years. One of the incidents that sticks out was when I brought home one of the "ballerz." His name was Sean, a teenage white kid who talked like he was from the Ghetto. Now for a kid from Woodbury, he is obviously a fake. What's even worse, in order to gain his "approval" I felt I needed to fake the way I talked as well.

On this particular night, Steve was riding with us. I started talking like I was from the ghetto. After no more than a sentence or two, Steve called me out on it. Looking back on it, I was really embarrassed about what Sean thought about me. This was followed shortly with embarrassement for looking like such a fool in front of my brother. Now, I'm more embarrassed for trying to conform.

The silly thing about trying to fit in is that you lose yourself in the process. You think you are figuring out who are you, but you're not. You get yourself caught up in what everyone else thinks, and not what you think.

God did this extraordinary thing, He made everyone unique, different, amazing, spectacular. There is no reason to be a mirror image, a reflection, a copy, a fake... because we are already perfect. Perfect in God's eyes.

Don't fit in, stick out. That's what you were made for.
