The Blue Shallow
A ripple for every moment

The Blue Shallow. Even though everything appears to be shallow and simple, there is so much more depth. The waters of life are more dark blue than anything. Nothing is transparent. There is so much more under the surface...

Fishing Opener

Wave 936

Saturday

The 9th of May, 2009 at 01:59 PM

As always I try to provide a post for the Minnesota Walleye Fishing Opener. I'm up at Mille Lacs again this year with pretty much the same report. It is cold, occasionally rainy, and we have had few bites and even less fish. That about sums up the adventure thus far. Currently I have caught the largest fish - 23.5 inches, just over 3.5 pounds. Wish is a nice size Walleye, too bad we couldn't keep it because of the slot limit.

At present, both my dad and Frank (friend of the family) are sleeping in our hotel room as I'm writing on a courtesy computer in the front lobby. I couldn't sleep (it is the middle of the day) and I was bored. I hope fishing goes better tonight.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I plan to make my mom a nice dinner. I'm still trying to decide what I should cook. I guess it all depends when we get back home as the other two fisherman want to fish as much as possible. If they had their way I wouldn't get home until late Sunday night. However, I am fairly determined and it sounds like we are going home much earlier now. We'll see.

Well I should try and get some rest. I hope you all have a good weekend and a special Mother's Day as well.
