Change
A ripple for every moment

Summer scent trickles off the fragile leaves, color washes away in the autumn breeze. Yellow, orange and crimson red, fall with pride from where they're shed. Ripples in the water, too small to be seen. Lost as quickly in the motion as the fading green. A switch in the current, a swell in the tide. Change on the surface but perfect inside.

Post-Graduation Life

I thought I would take the time to make a post about my post-graduation life. Within this post is probably some of the most interesting things that have ever happened to me. What's even more interesting is that I haven't shared any of it with all of you.

Surrender. Probably the most difficult thing for me to do the past couple months is just to let God take the wheel. Sounds easy, but its incredibly difficult. All of these changes in my life are stressful and I let the stress get to me. Surrendering my life to Him helps me live each day with the energy it deserves. At the same time I feel more at ease and relaxed. I feel like I can do anything right now, except maybe be a Veterinarian :).

A New Home. I found an apartment in the middle of May. The apartment complex is in Inver Grove Heights. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 3rd level, awesome view apartment. I have 1,100 square feet to throw all my junk. I made the selection based on the view, the size, in-unit washer/dryer, dishwasher, and a pet-friendly policy. I moved in my furniture May 30th. I went to a wedding that weekend with Kellie, but finished moving most everything else the following week. Comcast installed my cable and my internet which has been revised a couple of times now. I had a few problems with my mattress bonus pack and my entertainment stand which are since resolved. Decorating has been a slow painful process which involves much more money than I had anticipated. At present the following are nearly complete: the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, the guest bathroom, and my room. I have not done anything in the second bedroom or my bathroom. I really like my place and enjoy the short time I have lived here.

BWCA Trip. I led my first Boundary Waters Canoe Area trip in the middle of June. It was just my brother and I. I took the same route I went in highschool with my biology teacher. I learned quite a bit about how to plan trips and where to get supplies. Unfortunately the trip was not so intriguing. We had sunshine for the first 4 hours going in and the last 4 hours coming out. The rest of the trip was light rain, thunderstorms, and high winds... depending on the day. During the trip, I almost drowned on a lake because I went out fishing in the canoe by myself. That was stupid. My brother and I left a day early due to the poor weather. Despite the crappy weather, we had a very interesting experience but it was fun.

New Cat. For the first time in my life, I have my own pet. His name is Forest and his birthday is April 25, 2008. Kellie and I found him at the Humane Society in Woodbury and I fell in love with him right there. He was a quiet guy when I got him… I don’t know what happened but now he is a little too bold at times. For the most part he is a good kitty, but he can be naughty. He seems to be adjusting well to my place and to Kellie’s dogs, but he can have a little too much energy at times. When I bring my picture of the day up-to-date, I’ll include some pictures of him.

A TV. I’ve always wanted an HD television. I prodded my parents often but I could never get them to splurge on one. So when I moved out, I splurged. Probably not the best financial decision in my life… but I love my TV. Unfortunately, I have not had enough time to play with it much. In this same thread, my trusty audio receiver failed on me shortly after moving in. The warranty had just expired and that meant I needed a new receiver as well. Again, money is becoming quite the commodity. I lucked out on some great deals at Circuit City and now have the audio/video setup of my dreams J Now I just need a Playstation 3.

Lastly, my job. I started working just over a week ago now. I had been following my dad and Mike around for a couple weeks prior getting trained in. My first week went fairly well. I had a couple of emergencies which I was able to handle. I still have feelings of insecurity surrounding my title as a doctor. Some day I know I will walk into a room and the client will want to see “a real doctor.” It’s difficult to be the young one, fresh in a new position, and have to work with clients who are used to seeing more experienced doctors. For the most part, the clients have been receptive and I’m thankful for that. I’m just taking it one day at a time, until I can be the one with experience… and not have to worry so much.

I apologize for the considerable delay between my updates. I had been re-designing the animal hospital’s website for the past 2 months and dealing with all these other issues. I am thankful for all my fans and I look forward to writing more for you in the future.
