Where have I been? To put it quite simply, I've been everywhere but here. Actually, the reason for my long absence is due to a rather difficult test which is approaching. I've been using any of the free time I have (and I don't have that much) to study for this test. What have I actually been doing then?
Well school has kept me rather busy. I'm currently on my third medicine rotation, and 5 weeks ago I was on my second medicine rotation. In between there I was on a 2 week vacation. I guess I could have updated my website then, but I purposely took the vacation at that time to study for my national board examination.
During my vacation, Kellie and I went to Iowa to visit Matt and Shayla *Prestegord!* We left early friday afternoon and arrived early evening. We spent some time visiting, doing homework :) , and we went out to eat. The restaurant was great, it was called Hickory Park Restaurant. It was like a ginormous Famous Daves. The tickling smell of barbeque from this place permeated the Ames air, it was absolutely wonderful. Friday night (Saturday morning) was spent playing Cranium which I must admit is a pretty awesome game. Saturday we slept in and awoke to some Long John Silvers. This was the first time I've ever had "fast food" seafood. I must admit, it was pretty darn good. We went back to Matt and Shayla's crib and watched 28 days later, it was the first time Kellie had ever seen it and she enjoyed it. Matt and Shayla proceeded to grill some homemade hamburgers... and I have never tasted such a good burger. I might have to steal that recipe ;) Kellie and I left after dinner and headed back home.
Before leaving we bought some gas. Here is an interesting factoid. Premium gas in Iowa is cheaper than regular unleaded gas. We found premium gas as cheap as $2.11 compared to regular at $2.70. The reason for this is explained here. So not only are they selling better gas, but it is cheaper :) Yay!
Kellie's cousins, Brian and Joe, ran in the Twin Cities Marathon. Kellie's family and I were there cheering them on at multiple mile markers. They did rather well in this race that supposedly was the hottest Twin Cities Marathon ever. And it wasn't so much the heat but the humidity that made the running difficult. It was a run race to watch, with little bands set up on the corners musically cheering participants on. Someday I would like to run in a marathon.
Lastly, two cds came out from two artists I enjoy. Alter Bridge came out with Blackbird and Dashboard Confessional with The Shade of Poison Trees. I highly suggest the Dashboard Confessional cd because it is reminiscent of The Swiss Army Romance (a completely acoustic album). I love DC's earlier stuff, and this cd really brings me back. Alter Bridge is the remnants of creed and was one of my artists of the week.
I think that is it for now. I'll try to fit in a post here and there before my boards (November 26th). Wish me luck! Until next time...

We did have a good time, didn’t we? :) We need to do it again! (After boards of course!)
