Cold
A ripple for every moment

Frigid sky scattered here and there. Shadows watch mountains who are not easily scared. Snowflakes fall as time stands still, while sun's warmth trembles under the treacherous chill. Depths run thin as the ice grows, and blue meets white in the blue shallow. Everything covered perfectly in a blanket, one that is cold and doesn't need to fake it.

Learning To Breathe

Wave 878

Wednesday

The 9th of May, 2007 at 08:57 PM

Over the course of the last year, I've forgotten how to breathe. Sometimes I get so wound up and filled with anxiety, I don't take a second to relax before my insides start ripping apart. Not surprisingly, an old Switchfoot song floats into my ears and comes out my lungs.

This post would be much more interesting if there were something significant happening in my life. Unfortunately, I am going to disappoint you by saying that I am referring to an old hobby of mine, running. However, I don't think my thoughts are too light to settle in your eyes.

Spring came and is slowly surrendering to Summer. I never took much time to enjoy it while it was here. School has taken quite a toll on my personal and recreational life within recent months. Tonight I found some time to tie up my running shoes and grace the warm trails with my feet.

I always enjoyed running during this time of the year. The air is crisp and warm, the sunsets motivational, and the smell of nature gives me second wind. Then there is that nose candy, like the backyard barbecue, the sweet smell of food on dinner tables, and occasionally a permeating rush of ice cream aroma. I don't think there is any better time to enjoy running than this time of year.

All these things make me realize how much we miss when we are always rushing. Rushing from one place to another, finishing one thing and then moving onto the next, just living the daily grind. I'm starting to appreciate more and more the world I am living in. It is so beautiful, wonderful and amazing. And I think sometimes we forget that.

On a side note: I think I found my breathing rhythm back. I lost it temporarily, but now I found it again. Running is back on the agenda.
