Last week I drank four different wines. Started with white zinfandel, followed up the next day with a cabernet sauvignon, later that week I drank some pinot grigio, finished off the week with pinot noir.
So let's start with White Zinfandel. Zinfandel comes from red grapes throwing people off when it comes to the color of the wine. White Zinfandel is a smooth pink color (blush wine). It was a sweet wine with more kick than I expected. A rush of flavor with every sip makes White Zinfandel a fruity explosion. My second glass was as good as the first, so there is high "replayability." It is a good wine for both experienced and non-experienced (me) drinkers. Good because it doesn't get old (supposed to be served young) and it is always fun.
Next to the Cabernet Sauvignon. The cabernet is typically an aged wine, with a richness behind it which packs a punch. I wasn't expecting its strength when I first tried it. What could be said to have strong blackberry undertones, the Cabernet is a heavy wine. It is a dark red wine, with a dark mysterious aroma. My tongue's first impression was extraordinary, the aroma perfectly complemented the taste which hit my mouth. However, after awhile the extraordinary died away leaving me with a half full glass of a wine too strong to complement my white sauce pasta.
A nice way to begin the weekend is to have a glass of Pinot Grigio. Notably a fruity wine, it has a fragrant packed punch. It kindof has a 1-2 punch. The fragrance complements its citrus flavor. Pinot Grigio has a very distint tangy flavor, however I've read it can also have a rich flavor too. I like my fruity drinks, so the Pinot Grigio I had was perfect.
The Pinot Noir, a very interesting wine. Originating from one of the oldest grape varieties, many Pinot wines follow in its footsteps. Unlike the Cabernet, this wine had an opposite effect on my taste buds. Although it was a rich wine, I didn't feel like I was drinking alcohol. I couldn't place the flavor, probably because I wasn't focusing on it. It had a characteristic sweet smell though. The wine is high in alcohol which was interesting because it felt so light and delicate to me. I was impressed though, this wine could match up well with many foods. It was a good wine to end the week.

Cabernet is a very full bodied red wine, what type of pasta did you have it with... just because it was a white sauce doesn’t mean it couldn’t have complemented the dish..however, I agree you should have gone with perhaps a Chardonay (full bodied white wine). If you want my Olive Garden notes on wines you’re more than welcome to them.

Richard, Richard, Richard...you’ve got it all wrong. You misunderstood me. Wine is the best because beer tastes like piss water! I think that clarifies the whole debate between wine and beer.
