When There Was No One Else

Before we start here, I just want to say a few words. I am not in any way trying to impose my beliefs on anyone. This is just something I needed to say, because it is how I feel. If I left it out, I wouldn't be saying everything.
I found myself growing in faith when things started falling apart in my life. My friends showed me who God was. Through my friends I found Him. Through my friends my life was slowly pieced back together. I am happy with my life now.
I had problems with an employee I had awhile back. She was living with a verbally-abusive alcoholic. Doing what I thought was right, I went in search of some Bible verses which could help her cope with her difficult homelife. I knew she was a Christian and so one morning I gave her about 15 verses. At the end I typed, "Find God in others. Seeing isn't believing. Believing is knowing He is there without seeing. As long as you keep Him in your heart, you will always be safe. You are in my prayers, John."
Has someone ever done something nice for you and asked for nothing in return. Were they a perfect friend? Helping you up after you fell down, carrying when you were weak. There are so many people in the world who would do this for you, maybe some of them you already know.
I am not here to lecture you on God. I am not here to say He is easy to understand nor am I here to say you must accept Him. I am here to say, God isn't just up there. He is down here, walking among us, and you see Him every day.
There is a Casting Crowns song called "If We Are The Body." The song is about people disrespecting other people. Casting Crowns ask why people do such things. We should respect others and treat them like we would like to be treated. It is that simple "Golden Rule" we learned so long ago.
Try to find the good in people because everyone has some whether or not they show it. If you don't try to find good in the world, life will be difficult. Even if God feels absent or heartless, there is someone you know who cares about you. They help you through the hard times, they are a shoulder to cry on, and they are there when no one else is. You may not believe it, but there is some good in that. And that good, is something God has given us. To help each other, without compensation. To put ourselves second, instead of first. And to love each other, because without love there is no point.
Believe it or not, He is here. You don't have to accept it, but you don't have to reject it either. Tell your best friends today you love them because there is nothing more powerful than love.
Have a good weekend everyone.
