The Blue Shallow
A ripple for every moment

The Blue Shallow. Even though everything appears to be shallow and simple, there is so much more depth. The waters of life are more dark blue than anything. Nothing is transparent. There is so much more under the surface...

Scott Stapp

Anyone remember Creed? They broke up a couple years ago in the Summer. What remained was a lead singer with his group separated, with many greedy fans screaming for more. The band moved on and picked up a new singer and renamed the band, Alter Bridge. The lead singer, Scott Stapp, spent almost a year before coming out with new music. And there you have it, another artist of the week who has an interesting history.

Scott Stapp is known for his distinct voice. When I heard his solo album (The Great Divide) was coming out, I had to have it. I fell in love with his voice from Creed, I knew couldn't go wrong. And I didn't.

Creed always ran into trouble being accused as a Christian band. They spent countless hours/days trying to deny any christian references in their music. Even before The Great Divide was released, Scott Stapp claimed not to be a christian artist. When I opened up the cd and read the first thing on his thankyou list, "My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ," I couldn't help but laugh. As the music poured out of my speakers, I found more references than was necessary to convince me otherwise. His music could be classified as "Switchfooty." Never hitting either of the two extremes, but passively pushing his heartfelt message into popular culture. I love it.

"Surround Me," "The Great Divide," and "Broken" are all songs that stick out. Songs that can win your heart and lighten your wallet :) Check Scott Stapp out today, he is amazing.
